Stopped here whilst checking out the landscape of incredible mountains. Beautiful pub/restaurant, very clean! Staff were lovely and there was a beer garden to sit and enjoy our drinks in the sun. I’ve yet to eat here hence the 4 stars, but I’ll be coming back to try the food very soon, so will update then. Great spot for refreshments!!

Had the best fish chowder soup ever here. The amount of fish, mussels and cockles was crazy. When I first took the lid off, I thought they had crammed a breast of chicken in there. And it tasted delicious. The gentleman on the neighbouring table had one too and was equally impressed. I followed up with the gammon steak. Big mistake. It was huge. Two really thick gammon steaks, three eggs, a pineapple ring, peas, chips and onion rings. All delicious but I couldn't finish it. Had a really good crack at it but had to leave some. The beer was nice too. The others in our party were equally impressed with their meals. Totally brilliant lunch at a good price.

Visited on a friday evening on a bank holiday weekend. Lively atmosphere.Lovely beer garden. The dog was made to feel welcome. Ample parking space. A lorry blocked the road so I had to park in the nearby church's car park. I had fish and chips. My mum is a vegetarian and there wasn't many vegetarian/vegan meal options apart from potato and leek soup or a vegetarian curry. She had cheesy chips. Both had a key lime pie for dessert. The food was lovely and plentiful.

Popped in on the off chance and even though we arrived minutes before they stopped serving food on a bank holiday Monday and they had sold out of a number of menu items they still seated us promptly at lovely clean tables and served our food very fast! Portion sizes were generous for the price and the team could not have been nicer! It was only after we'd eaten that we found out they'd only opened/reopened it a week ago! Definitely looking forward to returning - a great hidden gem!

Popped in for a pint at lunchtime after walking along the canal from Gilwern. Wonderful reception and lovely local Rhymney ale. Although we did not eat, the food looked amazing. Do visit if in the area. We are from Kent and were made very welcome.

We stopped here while cycling on the nearby canal and had a chicken ceasar salad and ploughman's. The portions were enormous, extremely well presented and tasted great. The terrace was surrounded by lovely flowers. It was a great experience and we were very pleased we called in by chance.
