Visited Twyfords Cafe while spending a couple of days in Beccles. I tried a Cortado coffee for the first time, and an Eccles cake. All tasty and good quality. Happy with cost/value, good service, and nice atmosphere overlooking the secret garden at the back of the shop. Happy to recommend.

The waitress we had was lovely and welcoming and the decor and atmosphere was lovely but that unfortunately didn’t carry the less than satisfactory food for the ridiculous price, my partner and I both ordered toasties which we begrudgingly payed 13.50 EACH which didn’t even come with fries as standard. My partner ordered a Fish Finger Sandwich which had a cremated bun, lettuce that looked like Kendall Jenner had chopped it and 2.1 fish fingers as the third was just an overcooked piece of batter, we then asked for a replacement piece of fish as for that price we couldn’t not ask, we then in all fairness received 3 new cooked pieces of fish which was a nice gesture however the fish was just as overcooked and bland as the first time and she ended up not eating it all together. As for mine I had the Beccles.. whatever it is toastie which was just fine at best, again for 13.50 on its own just isn’t the quality of food you should expect, an unfortunate experience as otherwise the coffee was nice and as I said at the start the service was great.

I’m afraid to say please avoid here if you have allergies as I have been unwell with a reaction since my visit yesterday. I was so hopeful as they provided a gluten free menu which is usually a positive sign, but firstly the GF brownie arrived with lettering in raspberry ( I have an allergy to some fruits as well as wheat / gluten since my pregnancies and it did not state it would arrive with a raspberry accompaniment ) it had also arrived without the promised ice cream but as per I was nervous enough needing to return the food due to the raspberry coulis as I’m tired of feeling a burden because eating out is always a daunting process, I considered eating the brownie as it seemed to not have touched the raspberry so had stuck my cake fork in it but then thought better of it , after returning the brownie it arrived back with the ice cream but was the same brownie ( as I could see the mark on the brownie) maybe my mistake for not once again returning the food and asking for a fresh brownie altogether rather than the same one on another plate but goodness I’ve paid for it since 😞 I feel there needs to be better education regarding allergies/ cross contamination etc so someone does not react the way I have and unfortunately I cannot trust eating here again Unfortunately it seems nothing will be learnt going by the Twyford response ! if they will not acknowledge that I stated I had marked the brownie so could see with my own eyes they had returned the same on replacement This makes them not only irresponsible with allergies but dishonest too Very disappointing

Visited for the first time recently and unfortunately the standard of food just wasn’t good enough for the price you pay. I ordered the eggs Benedict, it was served on a overcooked, dry bread roll which was a bit odd, the roll was so crispy and dry it was difficult to cut it to even eat it, the bacon and eggs were undercooked, very disappointing☹️ the place its self is lovely and cosy and the little garden area was so nice but unfortunately the food just wasn’t up to standard and was pricey, £4 a glass of apple juice😳

Location isn’t hard to get to it’s the parking that is problematic but the building is beautiful inside and out. Coffee is alright a good blend but the chocolate is too rich for me but it could be nice for others. Breakfast I ordered was the big local which was two of everything with the Cost of £13. Sausage is exactly like how mom use to make and the bacon is nice, personally I do like a bit of grill on them so I’m a bit more biased got a lucky extra instead of two. Perfectly cooked fried eggs runny just how I like em. Classic good beans with the ingenious idea of putting them in a small tortilla. Mushrooms I immediately polished off super good. Never been a fan of hash browns but these were a good change using a more sweeter onion. This was all complimented with two bits of toast only downside was the ketchup but that can be overruled as it’s natural ketchup as I’m so use to the Heinz corpo stuff. Overall this was actually really really great and would be definitely coming again

If you are a tourist in Beccles....then yes, visit, as the building is lovely and the garden seating area is quite special but.... Too expensive for service you now get. We used to come regularly but after the third visit where the tea came out and then a long wait for a scone, then you know it's not just a one off problem they have, and it wasn't even a busy time. There school report reads - 'could do better'
