We ordered th October Fest menu which was meant to be value for money, but it seemed like good value for the owners, not the customer. The food- was rather small, 1 tiny taco each, and sad, didn't look or taste fresh, for a total bill of around £100! The crab seemed from frozen as was cold and watery, tasted a bit off, the prawn taco had exactly 3 tiny sad prawns in it, the soup luke warm and questionable. Service - we were asked twice by 2 different staff 'what else have we not had?' (that's a first, where the client has to memorise the menu for the restaurant), then we were asked if 'we're ok with our hands for the dessert?' then asking for a spoon and being brought a fork as all the spoons are being washed.....? Also brought a veggie dish, when we ordered fish. Funnily enough at dessert, we discovered that we actually weren't served one of the dishes at all! This was only because I decided to take it upon myself to follow the menu. This was rectified by a drink on the house and no service charge added, which was appreciated. Having said that it was all rather chaotic, unimpressive and overpriced considering the overall experience.

It was my second time at Halisco, and oh boy, I love the food! Definitely make a booking if you want to go at lunchtime—otherwise, you’ll be disappointed. The corn ribs are a must! I could live on them for the rest of my life. Every taco I’ve tried so far has been fresh and delicious. This time, we had the chicken and the brisket, and both were so flavourful and filling.

A supremely cute Mexican restaurant serves up a limited menu of tacos and other small plates. We had a Chilies Toreados and a mushroom tacos and both were packed in flavour and were delicious. Loved it!

The food was amazing. Had the Lamb Ribs plate with the Beef Tacos and Pork Tacos. Everything tasted great, especially the Beef Tacos, but the prices quickly add up. You only get a spoonful of guacamole if you order it separately as an example. If it wasn't for the prices this place would easily be a 5/5.

Good food. Margaritas were good. The corn ribs were nice but nothing particularly special (very easy to make at home.) The lamb croquettes were flavoursome but very small portion. The beef rib taco was absolutely delicious. The prawn taco was ok/good but small; probably wouldn’t have that one again. My main criticism today was the whopping 12.5% “optional” service charge added to the bill… for bringing us food & drinks from 2-5 metres away. Next time I’ll insist that is taken off.

Halisco gave me a different experience with mexican food. The corn ribs were a unique taste, and the halloumi tacos were really good as well. A must-visit on your trip to Brighton! The place can get a little crowded and noisy with a lot of customers sitting inside, but that is something manageable when the food and service is great!

Ooooooo this place is sooooooo goooooddddd everything is so delicious! Nothing below a 9/10!! And their margs are BEAUTIFUL!!! We went for a birthday and they very kindly gave us a free shot (not pictured but was delicious- at this point of the night the margs had started hitting). This is such a lovely cozy lively environment and a top contender for best Mexican place in Brighton for sure. The staff were all so lovely too!!

We called in for lunch after seeing Adam Richman visit this place on his Football Eats tv show. Having spent a summer in the Oaxaca region, I would say this place definitely ranks amongst the best Mexican food we’ve had in the UK. We opted for the Corn Ribs and then the Birria and Fish tacos, washed down with a bottle of Modelo and a mezcalita. The tacos were great and the corn ribs really surprised me as it’s not something I would usually order. On the slightly more expensive side for the portions, but the quality is there. We can’t wait to return and try the margarita bar on our next visit.
