Sadly to say that we were a bit disappointed with the food. We were really excited to try this out which was recommended by a friend. Loved the quirky menu and place but the food (the pork in particular) was a bit tasteless. The cocktails menu was a bit limited but what we tried was super yummy. The staff was lovely but the two girls were clearly stretched which reflected on the service. Saying that I will try it again as it might have been a one of

We had such a brilliant meal at Thewitchez. The food was unique, full of flavour, and beautifully presented. Each dish felt homemade with care rather than generic restaurant fare. The potato rösti with a fried egg was hearty and satisfying, the ravioli was rich and packed with flavour, and the baked pear with cheese, nuts, and figs was the perfect balance of sweet and savoury – honestly one of the best starters I’ve had in Brighton. The place itself has a cosy, quirky atmosphere and the service was friendly and welcoming. You can tell the team genuinely care about the food and the experience. If you want something a bit different from the usual Brighton spots, this place is a gem. Highly recommend. Ps Apple pie cocktail was banging.

A Spellbinding Culinary Journey at THEWITCHEZ Two weeks ago, embracing the glorious arrival of summer, our day trip to East Sussex led us to the vibrant seaside charm of Brighton. As hunger set in, we found ourselves wandering the beautiful labyrinthine alleys of the old town, where a magnificent little gem named THEWITCHEZ caught our eye. Arriving a touch early before their 4 PM opening, we were soon warmly welcomed upstairs. The first impression was utterly enchanting. The interior of THEWITCHEZ is a whimsical wonderland, filled with eccentric designs, mysterious faces, and intriguing artwork. Every corner tells a story, offering endless visual delights that could easily occupy you for hours. Yet, as captivating as the decor is, the true magic lies in the kitchen. The food at THEWITCHEZ is not just delicious; it's a testament to fresh, local ingredients and heartfelt preparation. As a food critic, I'm often on the lookout for inclusivity, and THEWITCHEZ truly excels here. Both of my companions are gluten intolerant, and they were thrilled by the extensive gluten-free options available. What's more, the execution and flavour of these dishes were so exceptional, they rivalled, and in some cases even surpassed, the non-gluten-free offerings. Our culinary journey began with exquisite starters: * Summer Breeze: A delightful combination of warm pear with goat's cheese, rocket, dates, walnuts, all brought together with a delicate honey mustard sauce and balsamic honey glaze. * Mediterranean Coast: A vibrant plate of marinated olives and sun-dried tomatoes, served alongside chargrilled artichokes in olive oil, warm pitta bread, and creamy hummus. For our main courses, we indulged in: * Rösti: A comforting, traditional Swiss dish featuring perfectly pan-fried shredded potatoes crowned with cheese and a fried egg. * Bavarian Schnitzel: A perfectly cooked chicken schnitzel, served with a choice of mash or chips, Parmesan cheese, a lemon wedge, and a crisp continental salad. * Lamblicious Steak: Tender lamb marinated in fresh rosemary, thyme, mint, and garlic, pan-fried to perfection and accompanied by colourful peppers and a refreshing lemon & coriander couscous (with mash or chips as alternative options). The passion of Ewelina and Zaneta, the owner and chef respectively, shines through every plate. Their commitment to using fresh, local ingredients creates a comforting, home-cooked feel – like enjoying treasured family recipes in your own dining room. A special mention must go to the staff; they were sweet, kind, and incredibly attentive, adding to the overall wonderful experience. I simply cannot recommend THEWITCHEZ enough. It's a place where whimsical charm meets serious culinary talent. Just be sure to book your table in advance to avoid disappointment! Nick #doctorfoodielondon

It had been a few years since I last visited The Witch’z in Brighton, and I was quietly curious to see how things might’ve changed — especially knowing they’d moved premises since my last time through. Straight away, you’re reminded why this place stands out. The building itself has a real presence — full of age, full of character. There’s a gentle creak to it, that slightly uneven charm that tells you it’s been part of Brighton for a while. And it suits the venue perfectly. Nothing sterile or over-designed — just soul. The decor manages that rare trick of being quietly atmospheric and a bit kitsch at the same time. There’s detail without clutter, character without it becoming costume. A kind of low-lit, witchy eccentricity that feels true to the name but never overdone. I only popped in on a bit of a spontaneous visit this time — no full meal yet (though I’ll absolutely be back for that in the next few weeks) — but I did get to try a little something while I was there, and honestly? It was just as good as I remembered. Spot on. Huge congrats to the whole team. It’s no easy thing to relocate and still hold onto that original magic, but they’ve done it. The energy, the food, the welcome — all still there, still strong, still very much The Witch’z. Absolutely still one of Brighton’s little treasures.
