Plato's, Bar, Restaurant with Rooms

We have been to Kirkby Lonsdale many times, often 2 - 3 times a year for walking holidays and the December festivities. Flatric on his first visit. Madge a regular. We remember Plato's opening and have eaten here a lot and drunk a lot more. First stay here, very comfortable room overlooking Mill Brow. Two real ales today. A Windermere Pale, Collie Wobbles, 3.7% for me. Very enjoyable. Also a Wainwright Gold on handpump. Lovely service.

We spent a Sunday and Monday night at Platos and would definitely come back to eat but probably not to stay overnight again.||Our room (no.2) was lovely and had everything we needed but sadly it was so noisy that we were woken up several times during the night with commercial bins being moved around outside, noise from the rear stairs, door slamming, and very noisy floorboards in the room above. The guests above us were up several times in the night which woke us up each time. We suspected something was up with noise issues when we saw earplugs had been left in our room!!||It’s such a shame as the food and service and ambience was absolutely superb but just too noisy for us for a sound nights sleep.|We thoroughly recommend the Roast Beef…probably the best we’ve ever had!

We had booked dinner, bed and breakfast. We had an excellent evening meal, the service was good and it was very relaxed. |The bedroom unfortunately was extremely hot and the air conditioning unit was very noisy. We were woken at 5:30 by deliveries and loud voices. |We went to breakfast at 8:35 because we had an appointment at 10:15, 20 miles away and left good time. Unfortunately the breakfast took nearly 40 minutes to be put on the table despite only being 4 tables occupied.

Went into Platos last night with my other half and the two kids, can’t recommend this place enough. Inside is very nice and outside is stunning as well. All the food we had was amazing, the kitchen staff are great and I want to give a massive shout out to our server Ben who absolutely made our night, made us feel very welcome. 10/10

We really enjoyed our stay here and would definitely return. We had the deluxe room with the windows looking down the main Street which was really nice. We had our evening meal at the Platos restaurant which was fabulous and also the cocktails, they are definitely worth a try!

I can't recommend this place enough. Jessica and Tony, the owners, were friendly and helpful from the moment my family and I arrived, and we left feeling very impressed. The rooms were clean and well-furnished, the bed was incredibly comfortable, the breakfast was immense and the evening food (and service) was superb.

Well where do I start - WOW. The food is absolutely phenomenal. A small menu but surprisingly so much choice. We booked online without hassle, arrived and was greeted by Ben and shown to the table. My daughter is a vegetarian and there wasn’t any fish left but Ben picked up on that and straight away had a recommendation ready for her. We also wasn’t going to get a started but believe me when I say (from 2 big meat eaters) TRY THE CAULIFLOWER BRAVASS!!! We ordered the Curried Lamb Shank, Chicken Ballotine and the Teriyaki with prawns (see photos below) every dish was incredible so much flavour, little wait time and the fact we could see our food being prepared in front of us was a bonus! A massive thank you to Ben who was an absolutely wonderful host, with a great personality and who was extremely professional. 10/10 would recommend to anyone who is thinking of visiting Kirby. Thank you from a very happy (and extremely full) family.

Very nice place to stay - friendly staff and excellent breakfast. Confy beds, good bathroom and a fan in the room, which heloped a lot has it was hot!| Kirby Lonsdale is a wonderful old market town and well worth a visit.
