Red Dragon, Kirkby Lonsdale

Lovely friendly pub/ restaurant with rooms above. Rooms clean & comfortable with nice tea, coffee etc. lighting a bit dark for our taste. Staff welcoming & friendly & Sharron served us breakfast & couldn't be nicer, warm & friendly. Generous well cooked breakfast thanks chef! Mabel our black lab made to feel very special too. Beautiful village & surrounding countryside. We highly recommend.

We didn't stay, but we only visited for a evening meal, we where greeted by staff, with a warm and friendly feel and made us feel welcome. We ordered food and drinks and all arrived in a timely manner and most off all, drinks cold and especially the food was hot (how food should be served) fantastic starter, which I'll try to replicate, and two main meals. I great place to have a meal, good quality food and filling, we will be definitely be returning, even if we have to travel back.

I had my first ever KL meal here many years ago and have been back many times. Always popular for their pub food. Flatric on his first visit. There are not as many real ales from the Robinsons range nowadays. Only 3 handpumps and only 2 available on this visit. I had Dizzy Blond. 2 pints. Both lovely. Great fireplace, already in use on Oct 1 (but not on Oct 2nd.) Good news on 2nd is Cumbrian Way now on the 3rd handpump. A few too many fruit flies also enjoying the bar area.

We were staying locally and called into the Red Dragon for a meal early on a Saturday evening and despite being busy, we got a table ok - but only just. I was a bit disappointed that my first choice of main course (chicken schnitzel) was not available when I tried to order it, so opted for the steak and ale pie which was tremendous. Her Indoors opted for the fish and chips and had no complaints either. Both meals were piping hot and hearty. No complaints here, highly recommended.

Visited Kirby Lonsdale for a day trip, first visit to the pub me and partner served for alcohol ok food looked good said we’d be back. An hour later went back to have a drink and food and would not serve me. Guy was just being awkward had photos of my passport, driving license and birth certificate wouldn’t accept any being nearly 30 this is ridiculous did not give any money and went to another pub elsewhere. Not consistent in what they accept depending on who you’re being served by within 60 minutes. Would avoid again for this reason was unnecessary

Brilliant! Stayed for one night, Room was excellent, comfy bed, superb shower, and nice shortbread biscuits. The staff were all great and the breakfast was very tasty. I'll be staying again when we go back.

First time in Kirby Lonsdale so town & accommodation recommended by a mate who has stayed here a few times. ||There’s no parking although that is made clear on booking so we found some in street parking 5 minutes away. ||Very friendly welcome by a young guy and shown to our room. The room was very clean and had everything you would need. Think we had room 5 with a courtyard view. |Small wardrobe with plenty of hangers and a handy strip light that cones in as you slide open the wardrobe door. |Bedside cabinets& lifts, dresser with storage, chair mirror etc and a lower easy chair in corner. |Good selection of quality| tea, coffee, hot chocolate and some homemade shortbread. |Flat screen tv on wall. ||Bathroom very clean, good lighting and option of shower types over bath and all in good condition.||Breakfast was served by a friendly and polite young lady who also checked us out. |Lots of cooked options with hot drinks served to order (offers a more drinks later) with toast , cereal, jam etc. ||All in all an excellent stay and we would return & recommend.

Lovely old inn situated in a lovely town. Staff were warm and friendly throughout our stay. Room was a little small but for a one night stay no problem. Comfy bed and big fluffy towels puts other costlier hotels to shame. Room was at the rear so away from the road noise. We had dinner and breakfast both of which we enjoyed. Parking (payable) was located close by and free between 6pm and 8am. Sadly the council don’t provide a facility to pre-pay parking in the morning via their online payment app.|Our only gripe wasn’t with the hotel but some ignorant dog owners allowing their pets to climb on seats, paws on tables and not kept away from other customers….not everyone is easy in the world with dogs.
