Just happened upon this place and popped in for lunch around 2.30pm on a Saturday. Lots of history and a quirky beer garden. Very quiet but soon livened up with plenty of locals and visitors just like us. Staff very friendly and helpful. The chowder was really tasty, creamy, full of fish and only a few mussels, little potato, just the way I like it. We shared dessert, chocolate cake with cream - so good. Definitely worth a visit.

Wouldn't rush to come back. However the service was very good. Polite and friendly staff. Cold inside. Steak overcooked and onion rings too oily. Hand cut chips were not nice at all. The seabass was ok.

Visited on a Wednesday evening and was quite busy. Very prompt service from Stephen and my party of 3 were well looked after. All impressed by food ordered. Well done to the team and would thoroughly recommend. Christmas brochure looks very interesting.

In Ardglass last Saturday evening, and while it's very picturesque and a lovely double marina/harbour, places to eat are scarce. Could have chanced going to the Golf club, but not really my scene. The seafood cart is very good, but wanted to sit down, and not in the car.... Google came to the rescue with Currans. Rang them, said we'd be there about 8.15pm, and no problem. Nice family pub atmosphere, promot attention from the staff, quick service and very tasty food. Would recommend wholeheartedly. Nigel in Cavan.

This was a pop in event. We got a 20% discount voucher and decided to use it on a day. There were eight of us and to be fair we probably were lucky to get accommodated at all. The seating area wasn't designed for many people so indoor space is pretty limited. Although from the outside, it really stands out. Loved it. This place is really great to sit outside and maybe have a meal on a terrace or maybe a beer or two on a hot summer day. It is a nice family atmosphere there. Not sure if the guy behind the counter was the owner or working there but they truly made us feel welcomed. They moved two tables together, although that felt a little crowded and for staff it made it difficult to pass our table to serve other customers. Nevertheless, it was nice to just sit there and chat. The food was long wait, but again we had a lot to chat and laugh so didn't exactly mind it much. The plates arrived nice and hot but the steak was not the best. Meat wasn't sizzling on the plate and it wasn't the best cut of meat. Had this lovely smoke taste but something there did go wrong. My knife wasn't the sharpest either so I probably would not order steak there again. Overall staff was really helpful, friendly and engaging. At the end we were left to understand that " the place is getting somehow busy" so it felt like they wanted us to leave and desert wasn't even offered but, I suppose if one makes a booking this situation could be avoided. I feel sad I can't score the best stars as the people there were really helpful and nice. Chips, pepper sauce was nice and I really loved the fact that fresh salad was present on the plate. Hopefully if we visit again I could change my comment to the best marks!

It was pretty quiet but it was a Monday and they were kind enough to let us have dinner even though it was nearly closing time for the kitchen, so fair play to them. Food was good and the waitress was great, friendly and attentive. I bet the place is really good on weekends.

Excellent food and service in a lovely old country roadhouse-style pub - go for the chips alone!! From the photo you can see they have been hand-cut. They are double fried, I suspect in dripping, because of the wonderful taste, from local fields - a chap at the bar confirmed they were from the field next to his - exceptional! We went on a Groupon - steaks or sea bass - we both had steaks and they were cooked beautifully, the onion rings were lovely too, crispy and tender. This is a beautiful country pub with a deservedly excellent reputation for food. Wish we could have stayed longer and will certainly go back.
