Herdwick Willy’s Bar & Bistro

We were really disappointed with the bistro at Herdwick Caravan Park. Willy' Bar and Bistro seemed to be run by one person running from checking people in, making food, serving food and managing the bar. This meant long waits which isn't really the servers fault, but was frustrating. We didn't book to eat here as the menu was so limited we didn't see the point. We did however choose to have a drink there one evening and the children wanted ice cream. I was waiting ages for ice cream whilst he walked to and from the kitchen and going to the bar. I wasn't acknowledged during this time, which would have gone a long way. After this I went to get drinks. I started to give my order and again without acknowledgement walked away when i was mid sentence to give sowmthing to another customer. I ordered a half as the atmosphere was so dead I didn't feel like we wanted to stay here. However at the bar I noticed a sign saying that what I ordered was half price, so I said I'd have a pint instead. The server pushed it aside and said that offer wasn't on any more. We didn't go back.

A very modern and well done out building. Clean and comfortable. Great seating outside and good quality seating inside. Good selection of drinks. Pizzas all handmade cooked to order. Waffles to die for. Excellent overall place with very good service. Highly recommend

We ordered 2 x BLT Ciabatta, we were served 2 x BLT Pannini. On giving feedback that the menu should state that they are toasted, we were told "well thats your opinion" now that is quite a rude response from a waitress. We tried to eat them but the "cooked lettuce" just made them wet and disgusting. We returned them again offering feedback again and insisting that we didn't want a refund at which point the owner?/Manager? Aggressively interjected in a threatening manner and told us not to talk to his staff in that way. So clearly you are not allowed to give feedback at this establishment, the kitchen doesn't know the difference between a Ciabatta or a Pannini, they like to cook lettuce here, the attitude of the waitress is to always respond (rudely) with well thats your opinion and don't complain or the unit of a Manager will come bearing down on you in a threatening manner. And I didn't even want a refund, I just wanted to help and give them feedback. I am local and not a tourist and I was going to encourage my group of 12 to visit here next Sunday morning. Well done for cooking lettuce and not stating on your menu that you toast your Ciabattas, improvements can be made. And by the way your toilets were filthy.

Advertises real ale and real ice cream, unfortunately no real ale, I asked if the ice-cream at least came in proper waffle cones, to which the manager with the interpersonal skills of a call centre employee said yes. My ice cream didn't come in a cone, but a small tub, and wasn't even that nice. So eating the disappointing ice cream and beer that I did particularly want (for £9.55) sitting on the front wall well away from everyone else, I was told off for smoking while pointing to a no smoking sign around the gas cylinders 20 metres away that 'apparently' I was directly looking at. Then it quickly escalated to the owner telling me I smell. Yeah mate, I've been on a long walk as probably do a lot of your patrons, are you going to aim personal insults at all of them? So in short, avoid, spend your money elsewhere. Oh and ps, my beer was taken away, and I actually had to ask for the refund?!?, unfortunately they've only refunded part of it, luckily I paid by credit card. Again avoid!

We went here as it was within walking distance of our camp site and it is a great find. We timed it with 15 mins to spare to order food and so glad that we did. All of our pizzas were lovely and freshly cooked to order (our boy likes pizza without cheese), whilst they also had a good selection of beer and gins. We will defo visit again next year during our annual family holiday to the Lakes 👍.

Friendly staff and great place to stop off. Clean restaurant and good food. Sun terrace but limited parking. Lovely location. Reasonable prices and good menu selection. Worth stopping there. Humorous toilet signs !!

What a gem of place nestled at the edge of Bass Lake, attached to Herdwick Croft caravan park. Selling the most amazing waffles, cakes, pizzas and THE nicest charcuterie board we have ever had! Lovely owners, staff and the decor is beautiful. Highly recommended.

Popped in for a bite to eat. Cool vibe and plenty of comfortable seating inside and out. Staff very friendly and welcoming. Lots of options that sounded delicious but finally chose a pizza. It was tasty and light and very reasonably priced. Will definitely be going back.
