I've had breakfast and a late lunch here and both have been excellent. For me the test of any cafe is whether cake is flavoursome and their coffee and walnut cake definitely passed. I also enjoyed a coronation chicken sandwich with some extra coleslaw. Both were very good.

Arrived at half past three...half of the cafe was closed off ready for closure. You could not see all the cake selection. The rest felt it had been carefully curated since 1972. Coffee ok. Staff pleasant enough

Asked for bacon buns .. to takeout ... Asked if wanted sauce on got tomato sauce . Bacon could been cooked bit longer lot fat on bacon which wasn't crispy ... and there had been margarine ? Put on the bun which you could taste , would preferred it without . Wished I'd picked something else . 😕

We regularly pass through Kirkby Stephen and have stopped here a couple of times. The food is decent but on our last visit the toasties didn't have as much cheese in as previously and were a bit overcooked so were dry. No coleslaw etc with the tiny salad with them and we ordered a side of chips, which were not cooked all the way through. The real scandal is the price of soft drinks. At £3 I expected at least a can or bottle but no, it is poured from a larger bottle and they don't even fill the glass up to the top when they bring it as a total insult to you!! This is a price scandal. In addition on the day we went the card machine was 'not working' and we had to scrape around for some cash. We probably wouldn't return.

Stopped off here the other day while passing through, service was good, the food lovely, big portions too! I ordered a slice of carrot & orange take to take away and it didn't disappoint. I will be stopping here again. It was nice to see that they offered dairy and gluten free options as it can be hard for small business to cater them all.

Stopped for a quick bite to eat whilst out cycling, ordered a sausage butty and a coffee. Service was pleasant, sausage butty was two sausages sliced in half length ways and two pieces of toast. Coffee was a large but I've had bigger mediums elsewhere. Butty was okay, sausages a bit tough but the bread was nice, what was unpleasant was the cost, a hefty £9.30! I get that prices have gone up in recent years but this seems extortionate.

Some poor reviews on here, but we went in a couple of days ago, just for a sandwich and a bun, and no complaints. Nice thick bread, large chunks of chicken, and plenty of it too. Had a scone with jam and cream, lovely. Service good, would go again but we were just passing through on holiday.
