Restaurant at Cawdor Arms

Had an excellent experience dining here on a bank holiday Sunday when most places in town were shut. We were thinking we'd have to settle for takeaway/pub food when luckily we found this restaurant. The food was fantastic, especially the vegetarian options which really did exceed my expectations - the cocktails were good too! Prices are a little higher than you might expect elsewhere, but not too crazy, and once the food arrived we felt we'd actually had a good deal as it was all really tasty. The staff were friendly and professional (especially the lovely lady who was serving most of the time in the courtyard). Great atmosphere, you can either sit inside and enjoy some fantastic historical photos of the town, or enjoy the sun in the courtyard. We liked it here so much we came back the next evening, thanks for adding a great dining experience to our last-minute trip!

We’ve passed the Cawdor many times and always talked about giving the restaurant a try, well, we are glad we did. We opted for the bar side, as we didn’t want table service. The fish and chips were really good, it was a big portion so we left very satisfied. Personally I would have preferred the batter to be a little crispier. All was washed down with a smooth pint of J. Buckley Best. The Staff were very friendly and welcoming, albeit a slight delay in being served. We would visit again, especially to try the burgers, they looked amazing.

Had dinner here on a Monday evening as part of a large group of 15. Everyone's food looked great I had the battered haddock which was a very good portion and was very tasty. Despite the large number all the food cane out of the kitchen at the same time. The young staff were excellent, very friendly, attentive and efficient. I don't eat meat but there were several great looking choices for me and I am keen to return to try more of the menu. Well done team!

Had a family lunch on Friday before Xmas. Loved the food the service (particularly) as they were 3 staff down but it never felt stressed. Will definitely be back again. Two of us had the goats cheese and salad but not just any goats cheese and salad. One of the nicest versions we've ever had. Hubby had a cottage pie he said it was really tasty. A really special place. Thanks for making it a lovely family experience.

Very nice restaurant. Probably mostly caters for the higher end of the food chain, and charges accordingly. We had goats cheese and duck bao to start, both very nice - especially the duck, followed by pork triple and duck breast. Again, the duck was perfectly cooked, pork was a little dry throughout. I thought the staff were very pleasant but clearly not too highly trained. On the whole, we liked it

Great food and feel friendly staff and a variety of choices. I'd recommend the lamb mint burger with red onion marmalade. Great triple cooked chips crunchy yet not dry in the middle. Staff where great and quick to serve and ready to help you with any extras you needed. Great experience.

I don't often give reviews but the Sunday lunch was superb, better than I could have made. Melt in the mouth lamb and tasty vegetables.

Arrived at 2.20. Asked if they still served lunch. They said until 2.30 I said “great so we still have time” “no sorry we’re not serving anymore”
