We had lunch at The Goat on the Roof in Newbury and chose their 3-plates-for-£15 lunch menu — a fantastic value. We were seated by the window with a calm canal view, perfect for a relaxed midday meal. The staff were friendly and helpful, taking time to explain the menu since it was our first visit. Our food and drinks arrived quickly, and each plate was beautifully presented with creative flavours. We even saw another table enjoy a mini fireworks dessert for a birthday, which added a lovely celebratory touch. The washroom was very clean and spacious, something I always appreciate. Overall, The Goat on the Roof is an excellent choice for a relaxing meal out or special occasion — great food, thoughtful service, and a charming setting. We’ll definitely be back!

Lovely cosy set up in this Beautiful village along the river. The owner is very welcoming and the food is very tasty, with this way of grazing over the menu. Delicious arancini, and ravioles. Worth a visit if you are finding yourself in Berkshire

Everything they have basically amazing! Went here with my bf and we ended up eating 2 plates of starter, 8 plates of main, 2 plates of dessert 🤣 Bless our body 🤣 We read the review before we came here and basically we just want Patrick to reply, seems like hilarious guy. Never missed to reply any review here 🤣 But! If you’re around, worth to visit! A perfect introduction of British tapaz! Will be our top list to come again in the future!

The food arrived at varying temperatures; the steak was cold, though notably tender, while the tortellini was only somewhat warm. There was no chicken dish available. It is worth noting that approximately four dishes are typically needed to constitute a complete meal.

I was really impressed with the food and I'm definitely coming back. First time last night and we had a mix, my top hits were the red mullet (I'm a big fan) and the tarragon sauce was to die for, beef bao, oh and the butter and bread were really nice as well. Everything tasted fresh and I had also received a nice drink recommendation for vermouth. Congratulations to the team!

Oh wow, everything about our Goat on the Roof experience was perfect! All our food and drinks were amazing - we ate way too much food (!) but that's because it was all so fabulous! All our drinks were lovely, and yes we overindulged in those as well....but totally worth the fuzzy head today! The staff did such a fab job looking after us, faultless service. We don't live locally but we will certainly return one day. A truly impressive and memorable experience.
