Today, I visited Norwich Market for lunch and chose a medium-sized Chicken Curry accompanied by rice, peas, cabbage, and salad for £10. This is one of the few places in Norwich serving Jamaican cuisine. I spoke with Roy, the owner, who told me he’s from Black River in the beautiful parish of St. Elizabeth, which is where the name comes from! Although the curry didn’t quite have the full, distinctive flavors I’m accustomed to, I still appreciated Roy’s unique take on this classic Jamaican dish. I’ll definitely be returning to explore more of the dishes on his menu!

First of all, the service was brilliant—we didn’t have to wait long for our food, and the staff were very helpful in explaining all the different dishes. I had the curried goat, which was absolutely delicious, while my companion enjoyed the veggie curry. We also tried the ackee and salt fish curry, which was equally tasty. The portions felt like great value for money, and I left feeling completely satisfied (see picture). Definitely recommended!

First time trying Jamaican food and it was absolutely amazing. I had the curried goat and will definitely be coming back to try other dishes! Also friendly service, thank you :)
