Taquero

Taquero is honestly one of the best restaurants I’ve ever eaten at. I’m a Mexican living in England, and I’ve tried plenty of “Mexican” restaurants across the UK but Taquero truly stands out. Sure, it’s not exactly the same as back home (and let’s be real, who in their right mind would expect it to be?). Come on, people! If you want something identical to what you get in Mexico, then you need to go to Mexico. 🇲🇽 What the owners have done here is pure magic, they’ve managed to blend authentic Mexican flavours with the English palate, using the ingredients available here (which, let’s be honest, can sometimes lack a bit of punch 😅). And yet the chefs somehow turn those ingredients into pure magic, every taco feels like a little miracle that makes you do a happy dance with every bite. 💃🌮 And to those complaining about the waiting time: Friends, this isn’t McDonald’s. Good food takes time. Everything is made fresh and with care. Huge respect to the chefs who work long hours standing, giving their best every single day 👏. Also, kudos to the managers and staff for handling so many customers with grace. If you’ve never worked in hospitality, you have no idea what it takes to serve over 200 people in one day and still smile, even when some customers can be rude or ungrateful. Like every restaurant, (even Michelin-star ones) this one isn’t “perfect, because it’s run by HUMANS, not robots. But the passion, FLAVOUR, and heart behind Taquero make it truly special. 💛

Overall was a brilliant experience. Had a great vibrant atmosphere. The staff were helpful and friendly. The service was fast. The food offered a great variety of flavours. Would definitely recommend giving all the salsa ago with some tortilla chips. Even the hottest habanero & pineapple one had a brilliant flavour and wasn’t just over powering spice. The beef birria was incredible I have made this before at home many a time and this was by far the best one I’ve had. The Mexican street corn was also super tasty. Worth getting. Only negative was the pork tacos were too salty sadly. Not worth knocking the experience down though. Would recommend

Just popped in for a quick snack and had a couple of tacos. Wish I'd had more - the sides that were coming out looked delicious! Great staff, and a really friendly, warm environment. Lots of seating inside and out. My partner commented how much of a difference it makes when you have really good service and I totally agree.

We had an amazing lunch here today! Some of the best food in Nottingham. The perfect and well balanced spicy margarita paired with the tacos and salsas 🤌🏼 I have to disagree with the person below. The food was extremely balanced and delicious, it is Mexican so expect some level of spice. The taco fillings are quite generous and we left full. They also have a great lunch deal!

Going here for me and my boyfriends anniversary dinner was a great experience. Could of been a couple more options for soft drinks however the tacos and salsa (I recommend getting all five to try them all out) really boosted this place up. We got a veggie option, meat option and the black beans side and somehow the veggie option was the hottest of them all! however I think the only thing that let this place down was the lack of dessert options, there WAS a dessert menu however not many choices at all, that doesn’t deserve any less stars as the main course is still highly recommended and I do understand some places like to focus on the ‘main’ food which is nice to see!

This was our first time dining at Taquero and I can definitely say that we will be coming back. The atmosphere was very nice and the restaurant is decorated nicely. We came around 12pm on Friday which was perfect as not many people were there but it did start getting busy as the time went on. The food was delicious, with good portion sizes so there enough for everyone. My favourite was the pork belly small plate (Chicharrón)- crispy and delicious. We also got the beef Birria tacos which were nice but Alittle bit dry. The drink we got was very nice, Jarritos- definitely want to try more flavours when I come back. The staff we had Minju and Dylan were very attentive, helpful and friendly. Dylan was very passionate about the dishes and said some of his favourites with us so looking forward to trying them next time. Overall this is a nice place to dine, very welcoming, fast service and delicious food.

Concise menu but it caters every palate. Food was very tasty. Staff are polite and always keen to accommodate requests. The service was a bit slow but it can be taken on a positive note given how busy they were, even on a weekday

Really nice gastro take on Mexican. The food is authentic and tasty, the decor chic, on trend and Mexican themed without the usual cliche, and the service is great. We went on Saturday lunchtime and it was full of socialites but still incredibly enjoyable. The food was bursting with flavour, the margaritas well made and service will a smile. Well worth a visit but brace yourself for the bill.
