Taj Mahal

Was told about this place by a friend who spoke highly about his experience so thought I'd give it a go. My order starter: chicken pakora. This arrived with some side salad onion lettuce tomato & cucumber, the amount of chicken in the pakora wasn't alot 1 piece did fall out as it looked so small, however the tasting of it was outstanding it was a tidy starter. Perhaps just slightly bigger bits of chicken would help. Main my favourite Chicken tikka masala, with sone pilau rice and of course Peshwari Naan again first time trying here so wasn't sure what to expect portion wise, oh I forgot I also added sone fries aswell. This arrived large plate of fries, nice size portion of tikka masala and of course the rice & peshwari naan. Tasted really really good actually some size of portion and in all honestly I can't fault it nice and hot fresh cooked. Chips did look a little over done but I'm not taking away the fact the main was outstanding. Experience 5* Staff 5* (very helpful) Wait time 5* (didn't wait long to be seated) Would i return to this venue? YES. Bill cost £38

My husband and I had an excellent experience at Taj Mahal! Contrary to many of the reviews listed, we had excellent service from the moment we walked in through leaving the restaurant. The restaurant was clean and comfortable, and our meals were delicious! We highly recommend the samosas and chicken balti!

Came here for a family meal as I love Indian food. My hot plate that was being served on my placemat was dirty and had to ask for another one and the young waiter that served me absolutely stunk of bad odour. Could do with maybe some Indian music playing to make the place more authentic Apart from that food was amazing !

I understand that running an Indian restaurant in a place like Oban is quite challenging mainly due to the fact that it is a relatively colder place and Indian food raw materials need certain conditions to stay at their absolute best and hence, i had very low expectations as I had Indian food craving ngl. Quickly noticed that right when I entered, the place was filled by locals and we were the only Indians there. The quality of food was below par, serving was somewhat okay and food flavoring was evident in every single bite. I'm not going to list what we ate due to the wellness of the restaurant and Oban folks seem to love it however we were not able to finish the food we ordered. If you are an Indian stopping by Oban on your Scottish Highlands journey, i would not recommend the place as it was not worthy for the price you pay for.

I came here with a group of hungry hikers and we were not disappointed. The food was delicious and portions generous. The service was fantastic and we were made to feel very welcome. We enjoyed it so much that we returned the following night. Would definitely recommend to any visitors to Oban.

From the minute we came in the door....everything was fab, the staff were super friendly and the food was much better than expected! The decor is plain, but the food and great staff made up for it. I would totally recommend!

Nice restaurant with friendly service. Everything was ok and service was good. There are steps and a ramp to the door. Could do with a bit more of an authentic atmosphere but overall it was a good meal.

The food was fabulous. I'm an Indian food expert, and the flavors were excellent. The butter chicken was exceptional. We came to this place on an evening where all the restaurants were full and got turned away from a half dozen other places and the wonderful people here opened up space and we had a fabulous dinner. Bravo. Much recommend these guys.
