Had a fantastic afternoon tea for my birthday! Lovely atmosphere and welcoming service they made my day so special and the food was amazing. Would highly recommend!! Cant thank the staff enough, definitely going to come back again and try to the main menu it looks great

When we visit our parents in Sunderland we absolutely love coming to this restaurant. The food is always superb and freshly cooked, the service is the very best and the atmosphere is so relaxing. All the staff are so attentive and this is most definitely one of our favourite restaurants! Thankyou for always making us feel so welcome! Can’t wait to come again on our next visit up North. Visited yesterday for Afternoon Tea x 2 plus 1 x Gentlemans Tea as part of Restaurant Week. Customer Service - top notch in every way. Staff are so friendly (they were so good with our Great Grandaughter) They go out of their way to make sure you have the best customer experience possible. Very smartly dressed. Beautifully presented food and all home made. Delicious. Whiter than white table cloths and napkins. Very nice crockery & tea pot/milk jug. Everything is quality and no skimping on anything. We had 'doggy boxes' to bring home and they were brought to us with neatly tied bows. Truthfully it doesn't get better than this. Gorgeous fresh flowers on the table. Everywhere is immaculately clean and The Mad Hatter's decor is as expected - quirky and fabulous. Husband has his eye on mince & dumplings next. [Advise booking as we saw people wanting to dine as 'walk ins' but no tables were free til mid pm. Possibly? due to Restaurant Week which was clearly very popular] 10/10 Many Thanks to all ♠️♥️♣️♦️

This is a truly lovely restaurant; such a rare find nowadays. Great quality food well prepared and large potions. Staff are so wonderful, nothing too much trouble. And it’s a bargain too! Thank you 🙏

This place is a little gem. The food is always brilliant and offers a wide range of choice and a good selection of specials. We have recently used Mad Hatters catering services for my grandma's funeral after such a great experience for my grandad's funeral. What can I say, it was just perfect for what we needed. The food selection was varied and the pies and sandwiches on offer were all delicious. Then the sweet treats were brought out which were incredible. The cheesecake was the winner across the board. There was a lovely member of staff who came to serve the food so we didn't have to worry about it and I'm gutted I didn't get his name as he was just fab! Brilliant customer service. Highly recommend for catered events and for a visit to the cafe on sea road.

Had a delightful time at Cafe Mad Hatter for my friend's birthday afternoon tea! 🎉 The food was incredibly tasty, and the portions were generous. Loved the unlimited tea and coffee options, and they even had fantastic gluten-free choices. The service was top-notch, with the staff being brilliant and very hospitable. Highly recommend this place for a wonderful tea experience! ☕️🍰
