We ordered a roast each and it was delicious- one of the best roast dinners we’ve had in Yorkshire. The meat was tender on both the pork and beef and lots of fresh well-cooked vegetables. They also kindly gave our son a Yorkshire pudding to try. The service was extremely friendly and we will definitely return. Highly recommended."

After reading good reviews we were looking forward to our stay. Knew it was an old building but can't understand how it had been awarded a 4*. It was scruffy. The furniture dominated the room which left little space to walk around the bed. No room for a seat. No teaspoons and one biscuit to share. The bathroom was large with a kidney shaped dresser with stained cloth under the glass cover. No extractor fan but an open skylight. Peeling wallpaper. Broken chain on plug and one plastic cup. 20 minute wait for breakfast, although we were the only ones in the dining room, which was passable.

Staff and good were excellent. We stayed in the cottage at.the rear of the hotel. It was basic but clean and warm. Only complaint was The toilet was very low and as I am disabled I found it near impossible to get up from.|The food was very good, lot of choice for breakfast and was able to make a few little changes which was good as I don't eat a lot. Evening meals were really good and with a good sized choice.|Landlord and his wife very friendly .

We had our evening meal here and it really was delicious. Breakfast was also really lovely.|Unfortunately, the whole place needs some basic decorating and maintenance. I wasn't bothered by wood chip wallpaper but I do appreciate a towel rail that stays on the wall and a clean shower.

Having holidayed in Cornwall for the past few years what a pleasure it was to be greeted by a friendly helpful young man. He couldn’t have been more help, we had a good home cooked meal in pleasant surroundings. But the major difference was the staff brilliant hospitality thank you

My Wife and I popped in for a meal on Friday 15th August. Very hard to find fault. Excellent food and service. So...we went back two days later and it was a shambles. 50 mins to cook two meals and there was a big queue of 14 also waiting. When the food finally arrived...it was cool. The Chicken was looking very sorry for its self. Both our plates were taken back to be reheated. My plate had 5 small pieces of Chicken when it was returned to the Kitchen but was returned with...4 pieces of Chicken. |The vegetables went cold very quickly. Shambolic and lazy preparation of food is no excuse for dreadful service.|Wake up to the real world of hospitality.

Staying in Kirkbymoorside for two weeks, visited The Kings Head for a meal, absolutely delicious food. I love Hunters Chicken and can say undoubtedly this was the BEST Hunter’s Chicken ever, presented beautifully along with chips to die for, just like chips your grandma made, along with coleslaw and salad. So nice we visited twice and I had Hunters Chicken both times!

In the market square, went in for a meal. We were made to feel welcome and water and treats were provided for our dog. Which was lovely. The food was promptly served and was delicious and hot.
